On 7 July 2023, the Wallonia-based company Fairwind signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with its local partner, the renowned Vietnamese higher education institution "Mien Trung Industry & Trade College" (MITC), based in Tuy Hoa City, in Phu Yen Province, for the supply of a combined solution of wind, solar and storage power generation systems.

The event took place at the Belgian Embassy in Hanoi, in the presence of Belgian Ambassador Karl Van den Bossche and Commercial Counsellor for the Wallonia Region of Belgium and Head of Awex HCMC, Jean-Pierre Muller. Faiwind was represented by its R&D Manager, Valentin Manto, who travelled from Belgium especially for the signing ceremony.

In a statement issued following the MOU signing, Ms Batoul Al Fouaani, International Business Developer at Fairwind, said: “This ceremony marks a significant step forward in our ambition to pursue our international development. By collaborating with the MITC, we look forward to contributing to Vietnam's renewable energy aspirations. At Fairwind, our expertise in affordable and sustainable vertical wind turbines for SMEs, farmers and industrial applications is already recognised in Belgium, Switzerland, France and even Antarctica. Now, Vietnam will be our next destination!”

“This opportunity strengthens our determination to take on other international challenges and to pursue our commitment to a sustainable energy transition. We look forward to developing other innovative projects and continuing to contribute our expertise to shaping a cleaner, more promising energy future”, she added.

The two parties that signed the MOU are now engaged in financial negotiations with a view to finalising the contract before the end of the calendar year.
